THE EXHIBITIONS AND THE BOOKS
Heroes of Bavaria, opening to a sell out crowd at the BMWCCA Museum, showcased 24 rare and exotic race cars spanning 75 years of track history. From the 1938 BMW 328 Roadster that won at Zandvoort in 1939, to the first BMWs to win sanctioned races in North America, to the PTG championship M3s, the BMW-powered McLaren F1 GTR, the Williams Formula One car of Ralf Schumacher, to the Z4 GTLM of Bill Auberlen…they’re were all in one place.
The Foundation’s latest exhibit, ICON: 50 Years of the 2002 hosts 27 exceptional examples of the 2002 platform, the smallest of the so-called Neue Klasse sedans that put BMW on the map as the global standard of driving performance in the 1960s. Researched and written by Jackie Jouret, this limited print, hardcover edition features 148 full-color pages of 02 goodness, with gorgeous photography of all exhibition cars, 1960s-era design drawings never published before, the 2002’s comprehensive history, and the inside story on its development and evolution.
